Radiology Technician Schools in AL
There are only two X-ray technician schools in Alaska that offer radiology technician programs in the state and they are:
- University of Alaska Anchorage
- University of Alaska Southeast
Both these nursing schools offer numbers of X-ray technician program from 1 to four years, but it is advisable for the students to complete an associate degree because 1 year certification can only lead you to the entry level post, whereas associate degree holder can go a long way in the radiology sector.
The amount of fee charged by these colleges is around $4,800 per year.
Curriculum of X-ray technician Program
The ray technician program comprises of classroom studies and lab practical. In the classroom instruction, aspirants are offered lectures and knowledge on several radiology subjects including, Radiographic Exposure, Radiation Safety, Mammography, Radiology Terminology and Patient positioning. In the practical session of the program, applicants are required to perform practical training on the topics that has been taught in theoretical classes.
On the successful completion of the radiology technology program, candidates need to get through the certification examination of X-ray technician proposed by American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
The applicants who clear the exam get the licensure and are allowed to work as a radiology technician in facilities for radiology imaging procedures. It is also a fact that candidates are not required to renew the X-ray technician license in AL.
